This special program has been designed to provide a basic foundation of pension knowledge to those new to this field.  You will want to attend this program if:

  • You are looking for a better overall understanding of retirement plans
  • You work in a specific area or discipline related to qualified retirement plans and would like to broaden your knowledge
  • You work in the employee benefits area but do not really understand how it all fits together
  • You may be concerned that your plan is not being administered correctly

Our speakers will be:

Hitz Burton, JD                              Aon Hewitt                                                               Mr. Burton is a Partner in Aon Hewitt’s Newport Beach office. Hitz provides advice to clients regarding the design and administration of their qualified and nonqualified retirement plans. Hitz also has extensive work experience as the lead consultant on more than a dozen compliance audits for qualified retirement plans over the last several years. Additionally, Mr. Burton has been the lead Hewitt consultant on over 40 acquisitions for Fortune 200 clients of the firm. Prior to joining Hewitt in 1997, Mr. Burton was an associate with the Boston law firm of Hutchins, Wheeler & Dittmar where he worked in the firm’s ERISA practice group and specialized in providing clients with advice regarding how their merger and acquisition activity would impact their benefit plans and programs. Hitz is the current President for the Orange County Chapter of the Western Pension & Benefits Council. 

Douglas Van Galder, ERPA, QPA          Boutwell Fay, LLP                                              Mr. Van Galder, Compliance Analyst, former TPA as an Executive Vice President of QBI, LLC and former President and a Principal of Strategic Pension Services, Inc. has over thirty years of experience in the design, implementation, administration and compliance aspects of all types and sizes of qualified retirement plans.  Mr. Van Galder received B.A. degrees in Economics and Political Science from UCLA.  He is a long term member of ASPPA and is also a long term member of, and the current President of the Western Pension & Benefits Council Governing Board.

Stuart Hack, JD, CLU                           Sunlin Consulting
Mr. Hack is a Partner with Sunlin Consulting LLC and Vice President of Sunlin Consulting Investment Advisory Services LLC.  He advises qualified plan sponsors and record keepers on fiduciary liability exposure management.  He designs, implements and monitors fiduciary best-practices programs, including fully documented ERISA 404(a)(5), 404(c) and 408(b)(2) compliance solutions. Mr. Hack is a former President of the Orange County Chapter of the WP&BC and current Board Member.

Samantha Ter-Kasarian Graboff, CPA     Windes

Ms. Graboff, CPA, is a Senior Manager, Audit & Assurance Service practice at Windes, Inc.  She has over 13 years of experience in auditing employee benefit plans including 401(k), defined benefit plans and health and welfare plans. She is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She also is a member of the Employee Benefit Audit Quality Center and is a current board member of the Orange County Chapter of the Western Pension & Benefits Council.

 This Seminar will be held in the offices of The Capital Group.  Check-in is open from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m.  Due to the special nature of this program, we cannot accept walk-ins the day of the event.
